MaxCalzone - En - Imaginoteca

Located in the heart of the historic San Zeno district, this renovation project reinterprets a small pizzeria specializing in calzoni through a contemporary lens, while preserving the convivial and informal character typical of traditional Veronese osterias.

The space, compact and developed in depth, is conceived as a warm and welcoming environment, where natural materials and reclaimed elements interact harmoniously. The design is based on a balance between simplicity and detail: the dark wood of the ceiling beams and existing structures meets textured surfaces, while the deep red upholstered wall paneling, defined by the continuous backrests of the seating, outlines the perimeter of the space, ensuring visual continuity and comfort.

Lighting becomes a defining feature of the project. A composition of suspended macramé lanterns, each one unique, creates an intimate and dynamic atmosphere, enhancing the depth of the space while introducing a light, almost scenographic visual rhythm. Transparent hanging spheres further reinforce this sense of lightness and surprise.

The walls are conceived as a narrative surface: a composition of frames and graphics, ranging from illustration to photography, builds a layered visual story, while decorative elements such as plants and objects contribute to a lived-in, spontaneous aesthetic.

The result is a space with a strong and recognizable identity, capable of combining a domestic atmosphere with a contemporary character, in harmony with the authentic energy of the surrounding neighborhood.
